Impeccably made film. I could tell it was adapted from a book without even knowing because the movie just looks like a book.

It’s one of the only films I’ve ever seen that actively attempts to give us internal monologue without narration. The composition and how the camera focuses in on movements and objects with insert shots allows you to really get in the head of Starling as the case unravels.

Being in Clarice’s shoes with *just* enough external information to keep the story going and, more importantly, make you absolutely terrified for her makes this a beautifully edge-of-your seat thriller.

A flat shot historical drama. Doesn’t sound to good on paper, does it? But, Amadeus rises above its contemporaries not just in its genre, but in the world of film as a whole.

A film with massive themes, sweeping production design, and stunning score (courtesy of the subject of the film), yet absolutely without pretension. It’s like a Mozart work itself: there are many elements, but never any more or less than are necessary. Misplace one shot and it…

The most emotive rocks I’ve ever seen.

Nearly perfect movie that honestly left me speechless. The writing, the acting, the visuals and most importantly the heart of this film are truly beautiful. One of my new favorite movies ever, the biggest recommendation I could give. All I could do after was hug my mom and tell her I loved her.

Immaculate performances, strong and thoughtful direction, & lovely comeuppance plots make this a fantastic watch!

However, don’t think too hard about the plot after it’s done, it doesn’t really make all that much sense.
