I give it 1 star for excellent performances and design, but I wouldn’t recommend this film to anyone. It is stupidly long for such a predictable movie. 25 minutes in and you can already guess every single plot point and the trajectory of the main character. The only curve ball in the film is Cate Blanchett’s character who is literally just a pawn to the plot that leaves the audience more confused and annoyed than anything else. Sad to see a Del Toro film lack so much in story.
