The Person who made this movie is either too ignorant to understand climate activists as anything different then naive weirdos or actively hates them. 1/2 Star for the chemistry between the two dudes and 1/2 Star for their comedic timing.
intense movie that somehow manages to get as close as possible to the protagonists subjective experience and perception while at the same time incorporating the impossibility to fully grasp another self. Olivia Coleman is phenomenal and so is dakota johnson, both transporting a feeling of disassociation and need for being comprehended. Some other characters fall flat a bit and the story telling at times is a bit on the nose, but this was one of my best (uncomfortable and somewhat disturbing) cinematic experience of last year and I highly recommend it.
The idea of translating a truly horrifying piece of history into a sci fi scenario was promising, but it sadly didn't work out, the setting fell flat, so did the characters and the pace didn't work for me either. The better scenes were the ones taking place in the resistance camp, depicting the culture, language and approach on life of the indigenous people rather carefully and detailed. But while the themes, intentions and ideas were clearly visible it didn't really come together.
