    Great first hour (albeit with a bit too much narration) but jumps the shark a bit in the second half - satire is a bit too on the nose

    Big oof - mostly unfunny, juvenile, tonally incredibly muddled, incoherent; not quite the blatantly offensive cornucopia that movies of this era can be, but definitely has its moments.

    Still, some incredibly expensive looking set pieces, and the dp knew what they were doing.

    Aykroyd is wince inducingly unfunny, and Gene Hackman (rip) struggles to make it work.

    Murky, mumbly, and overly literal, this is a great advert for the scottish highland tourist bureau, but is a pretty unneeded film. Fassbender and Cotillard are overblown and thespy; watchable, but the supporting cast of actually scottish people are far better.

    At least there weren't any bagpipes.
