  By all logic of how Hollywood works this film should not exist, and it’s so packed with callbacks, in-jokes, and development gags that it shouldn’t work. Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy are miracle workers.

  This movie is cliche and has so many moments that are ridiculous even for the source material.

  But that's not to say it's bad at all. It's a whole lot of fun! All the characters do a good job in their roles, the story is engaging even if it doesn't do much in terms of originality, the special effects are nice, and overall it's just a legitimately good and fun film to experience.

  Probably the best video game movie adaptation I've ever seen.
