I like how this film doesn't trust the audience to figure anything out for themselves and so makes all of the antagonists comical, pantomime levels of evil, maniacal laugh and all. Just need a moustache twirl and I'll have the stereotypical villain bingo card!

A little self-indulgent on the narriative end, and the dialogue can range from somewhat profound to absolutely ridiculous, but when it comes to visuals and audio, this film is delightful. The colourful lighting and hard lines in the cinematography, with the added crunch from the foax-grain... the subtle inspirations from and references to other folk and cosmic horror films... the animated segments... the surreal, sorta shoegaze-y soundtrack... just the weird of it…Translated from by
