  Apart from the musical set pieces, the saving grace of this adaptation, surprisingly, were the dwarves’ scenes and Gal’s performance. I’m sorry but Rachel Zegler’s hair was really atrocious and distracting here. I really wanted this to be good, but the choices made felt watered down and too cheesy 🍎

  I’m a huge fan of female-led revenge films—and to me, Vilma Santos was just not convincing as an enraged mother who suddenly had the guts & particular set of skills to take down the huge villain. Plotholes aside, even with good performances, the supporting characters just lacked depth as the whole film focused a lot on the status quo, never the ‘why’. Still, the melodrama aspect and themes here were very affecting and I might have shed a tear or two 🍷
