As someone who has 2 of Simon Stalenhag's books and has watched Amazon's Tales from the Loop, all I can say is... yikes.
First off, I can't lie, the art is amazing, they nailed the 3D matte vibe of the world perfectly. I love how nothing in this movie looks shiny or glossy, it all has a muted (even when colorful) look.

The first time I saw it, I was underwhelmed by the ending, the lack of payoff and some weird camera angle choices. But later on the more I think about it, the better it gets. This doesn’t feel like a cinematic masterpiece. It is rather the life story of a young thug boy: he has no goal, no dream, no family, nothing other than to make it through the day. When you see it that way, the sudden, anticlimatic ending of the movie just kinda makes sense: it gives you a glimpse into the life of a lost boy.
