i had my doubts about this at first, especially when i heard it was a hip-hop musical, but damn was i wrong. originally, i thought hip-hop wouldn't work with theatre, but watching this just reminded me of the fact that a big part of rap is storytelling. i was even more surprised to find out that this whole 3 hour musical was a sung-through musical with minimal in-between dialogue.

remember this from drama class. liked it then, like it now. love how basically the entire movie takes place in one room, and still manages to be so captivating and suspenseful. every juror has a unique, distinct, and interesting personality, and it's understandable how each character and every twist has stuck with me. feels like every line and scene has a purpose. a classic, and for good reason.

OKK NERA. funny, charming, at moments heartbreaking, but mostly heartwarming. vfx were surprisingly good for a 90s movie. storytelling was great, and the complex side characters (Jenny and Dan) were a good contrast to Forrest's more simple and easygoing character. didn't care for the movie's portrayal of American history. a feel good movie, like a fairytale.
