Read this in Werner Herzog voiceover: "Your individual choices don’t matter in the grand scheme of things. All of your efforts and good intentions are futile."

Werner Herzog is here to remind us that we live in a world where mankind destroys everything on its path, for no particular reason.

A Herzogian story. A man’s struggle against nature is in essence a struggle against himself. The faith of a man is tested in the indifferent brutality of nature.
The images of the Icelandic wilderness are some of the most awe-inspiring I’ve ever seen. Every shot is a photograph in itself.

Fans of this film should read the Dutch literary classic Nooit Meer Slapen (Beyond Sleep) by W.F. Hermans.

So happy I waited my whole life to experience this in cinema for the first time. Aside from the obvious Spielberg blockbuster flaws, this was a thrilling experience.

Also, I love that they cast Wayne Knight to reprise his role as Newman

A gem of Dutch documentary filmmaking. Synchronizing the jazz soundtrack with the movements of the glassblowers was a stroke of genius.
The message of this film is very clear. Mechanized assembly line work can never replace true craftsmanship. This movie exemplifies creativity.
