I'm just not a huge fan of disaster/survival movies that get ultra depressing and distressing for most of the runtime.
I mean, I did enjoy the inspiring survival parts and the testament towards human strength, ingenuity, and will to never give up despite the odds. The rescue scenes and aftermath had me riding high and cheering for the survivors as well. That's really all I enjoyed though.
The super dark and depressing parts probably helped ramp those moments up, but…
