A History of Violence 2005
I feel like Cronenberg's follow-up "Eastern Promises" has gotten more attention, but as far as Cronenberg crime drama, this is the superior movie. Viggo Mortensen's performance keeps me absolutely transfixed. His ability to subtly switch from peaceful to ruthless is outstanding. Watch this movie.

Despite being steeped in the imagery of this movie I think it was my first time watching it front to back. Freddy movies get a bad wrap for being pretty goofy. His first kill in this movie is bonkers and will make sure you know to not dismiss him as goofy. Truly a great slasher.
