beautifully filmed. raw. characters are interestingly juxtaposed to each other. maximalism of the youth is joyfully portrayed. the familiarity of play and performance in intimate connections, performance, and sociopolitical stance are striking and feel very relevant.
the episodes of the interpersonal confluence are quite tender, playful, and visceral.

the movie is so beautifully cinematically crafted. the actors do a very good job in transmuting the complexity of each of their character. it is peculiar how the narrative and the story itself transforms through the Natalie Portman’s character, making it an observation of the story through a double lens.
it was also interesting how Gracie and Joe’s personalities were juxtaposed through their hobbies.
overall, made me feel tense and horrified all throughout it. it really underscored the effect of trauma, and our potential inner obliviousness to it, on a people’s lives through such a radical story.
loved the natural landscapes, especially the sea and the Venus flytrap as well as the way the light was used to illustrate change and the “evil spirit” of count Orlock.
the movie had lots of amusing scenes, such as count Orlock carrying his coffin upon his arrival to Wisborg and Ella touching her left boob every time she was scared (probably reaching for her heart, yet it still looked quite funny).
