“You light up a room and then sit on everything in it” this movie is the realist depiction of what loving someone with manic depression is like. The characters are so incredibly fleshed out and complex, and representative of the different ways in which generational trauma manifests. This movie is a poetic representation of how we go about conversations surrounding the holocaust with a constant focus on resiliency, while pointing out how we ignore its living legacy and how the trauma of it is carried through generations.
This movie is fucking amazing and soooo timely considering the rise of incel culture and advancing AI. The way the men talked was dead on, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the writers did research in incel forums - the rhetoric of “I deserve xyz because I’m a good guy” while ignoring consent. This is 1000% a girl movie, fun, and often disturbingly close to reality. You should all use it to start fights with your weird boyfriends 💯
