    Excellent acting, cinematography, score, and editing, among others. I never thought a film with this plot would be so interesting (and cunty). Aside from the stylish visuals, I’m also impressed by the screenplay’s sharp commentaries about faith, prejudice, and politics through mere whispers and gossip.

    It was everything I hoped for and more. Amy Adams was sublime and sensational. Marielle Heller gave her all the spotlight and meaty monologues, and for her part, Adams ate and ate, and she left no crumbs. 

    It was a biting commentary on how societal expectations and family dynamics take motherhood for granted.

    Despite its shortcomings, I’d argue that Katips is still the movie event this season. 

    Katips offered a glimpse into the lives of ordinary Filipinos who struggled, but continued to persevere until the dictator was ousted. The story captured the tenacity and spirit of student activism, and the brutality of martial law. 

    The torture scenes were not easy to watch, but I guess that’s what they truly meant when they said that art should disturb the comfortable.

    Godzilla Minus One is hands down the best entry in the Kaiju film universe. The film looked so good on the big screen, and Godzilla was thoroughly terrifying as the havoc-wrenching monster. I was so surprised when I learned that it only has a budget of roughly 15 million USD, far below the usual 100+ million USD budget of Marvel films.
