I find this film overrated. The plot had great potential, but the execution felt aimless. It never manages to explore its themes with the depth they deserve. The songs also didn’t convince me, and given that it's a musical, this is a crucial aspect. Additionally, the historical context — the parts dealing with real events in Mexico — is relegated to a secondary role, mainly used to enrich the main character. Ultimately, it feels like a missed opportunity to create something that could have had great value.

Because it is evident that there is a past, and it is painful and tragic. It is glimpsed in the shadows dancing in the room, perhaps created by the first light of dawn.
