As a fan of the book, Bong Joon-ho and Robert Pattinson I’m extremely disappointed in this adaptation. All the interesting ideas and themes in the book are thrown into the trash, none of the characters resemble their book counterparts at all and the tone of every single performance is comparable to Jake Gyllenhaal in Okja. What the actual fuck?
A modern horror masterpiece overlooked in its time. This film, directed masterfully by Stacy Title, is a perfect example of bold, fearless filmmaking. Title pays no mind to any of the traditional rules of cinema; the overexposed lighting and inexcusably jarring edits are almost as painful to sit through as the young, inexperienced actors' performances.
