  One of the most captivating, bleak and beautiful films I've ever seen. I was hooked well within the first 10 minutes.

  Reminiscent of Tarkovsky's Stalker (1979), The Ascent is a superbly-shot philosophical study of the human condition.
  I fell in love with each new sequence and the way Larisa was able to capture each characters' emotions... almost as if they were sculptures on display, necessarily achieved in order to provide a deeper insight into what the characters were experiencing. I felt as though I was being gently guided along with the characters through seamless transitions, hand on rope, being lead into the unknown.

  Highly recommend!
