this was deeply emotional and for what. of course i folded to the age-old narrative of eldest sibling adversity and sacrifice-making.
waterworks aside, it was near impossible to dismiss the blatant glorification of the us military! and overall nationalism! the vietnam war bit especially felt like a slap to the face! did we not read up on what korean troops did in vn...? please.
this film drew a very on-the-nose parallel between two asian proxy wars which was something i was able to thankfully recognize loooong prior to watching. it always points back to the us war machine and western imperialism...
