The Irishman 2019
a statement film that simultaneously has just as much to say about scorsese’s legacy as a filmmaker (and arguably de niro, pesci, and pacino as actors), as it does the legacy of the mob genre, the legacy of the american labor movement and how it was both literally and figuratively assassinated all at once. yes it’s long but it’s worth it and i applaud scorsese for really taking his time and making the decision to truly conclude this tragic tale.

Parasite 2019
a movie made for people who love the smaller details of film. bong joon ho is showcasing kubrick levels of perfection and attention to detail here. there’s so many different ways to read into this film but also 100% as great if you just take the plot for what it is. parasite accessible, funny, dark, charming, alarming, brutal, necessary, and surreal all at once.
