  I got to say I am a little surprised this film was so critically acclaimed. While it has good acting and high production value, I found that the story did not answer the big question it posed: what happens after you become the world’s best at something? Outside of chess, this is a dilemma faced by many child protégés. The series examined the complexity of being the best as well as the cost, but never the result.

  I don’t understand why Elizabeth Moss was cast as the lead for this film. Elizabeth Moss is majorly involved in Scientology. It just feels ironic that she is playing the part of a survivor of abuse when she is supporting a cult that is responsible for abusing and exploiting their followers. I just couldn’t get over that when watching it.
