I enjoyed this movie. There were some layers. There wasn’t much of a mystery element throughout. I also just don’t think this movie was unique after getting out, the menu, and midsommar. Each of those recent movies had a situation where a character went into a group where everyone in that group seemed to know what was going on in a localized paradise that goes awry. This was another one of those movies.

American Beauty 1999
What an odd movie. I don’t think it was actually that deep. It was definitely unique. It hits on points like mid-life crises, imperfections, pain, beauty, and death. Sometimes life can collapse. Life can be short. Maybe the idea of the movie is that we should be grateful…? Making every suburban character have some odd dark side was obviously exaggerated.
