i was laughing WAY too loudly in the theatre but DAMN. my expectations were in the stratosphere and i was still blown away. my queen and forever favorite director greta. the jokes were everything. the existential dread was everything. the beach off/guitar scenes were everything. BARBIE WAS EVERYTHING. as a proud and confident advocate for the absolute beauty and joy of girlhood and femininity, gerwig once again encapsulated the complex and shared existence of being a woman in this world in a way i couldn’t dream to replicate. girls are so cool i could scream!!

Before Sunrise 1995
as someone who, almost daily, falls in and out of love with strangers i share a fleeting glance with, this movie felt deeply satisfying. linklater masterfully guided us through a dream-like yet fully conscious evening of love that will now forever make me want to actually say something to the cute barista or boy in the library. you can truly never anticipate the connections you will discover in this life, and it was delightful to entertain the concept of one of those “what-if” relationships throughout the course of this film.
