attempting to see the Best Picture noms again. so here I am with Conclave.
something obviously great about it: the sets worked so well with this kind of story – the isolated, pristine areas where they were sequestered because duh, conclave rules. but also other times, they’re at impressively larger religious sites. the costume designs also enhanced this as well.
the drama is good! because it isn’t young people with romance, it’s men of faith and their different personal views.…

I love how French sounds with back and forth conversations, especially when some romance is involved. so yeah, that last portion had my eyes glued and my ears happy.
something to note, really liked how mirrors and reflections were present in the 1st half of the movie. worked well with Cleo’s entire mindspace and how it changed during all this.

I wanted to like this more. I can see from this movie what people mean when they say a movie wasn’t tight enough. a bit too much going on. being Bong Joon-Ho’s movie following Parasite is tough but dang, thought it’d be better.
starts off really well too, neat ideas to explore I thought! clones (multiples) that act differently, being an expendable and how others treat you, pokes at capitalism. it was building up well but then went somewhere else.…
