The Boy and the Heron 2023
Worst Miyazaki I've ever seen. Some parts were good (the art, the sound) but the story was so goddamn all over the place. It was like watching 16 short stories crammed together, with very little care to make sure they made sense at all still. Damn shame too, I think the pieces were there for something special.

I was recommended to watch this because "I liked the irish gangsters from The Wire Season 2 so much."
Those gangsters were greek. My friend is dumb.However they were right, this movie hit literally every beat I enjoy. Stellar performances all around, extremely quick but takes the time to characterize, I loved this and will definitely add it to my favorites to rewatch.

The Batman 2022
The best goddamn movie ever. Michael Giacchino rivals every great composer that has ever existed with this absolute banger soundtrack. The story beats hit, it takes itself slow and serious without beating you over the head with it, it transitions well into the mid and late. I can see the argument for length but the payoff for the slowburn buildup is exquisite.
