Was not expecting this when the movie started and I was happily surprised with how it went! The first dinner scene was truly enjoyable with some good dialogues and laughs. I liked some of the interactions between the characters.
The story confused me a bit time to time; and the scenario felt a bit easy. The lighting was particularly striking to me, definitely not the one we see in every movie!
Great story to follow with an amazing acting from Tahar Rahim. This is the second movie I watch with him playing a character in a prison speaking multiple languages, and he is always on top!
Really enjoyed following the evolution of the main character and how he made his way up within the jail system. Every aspect of the film is well thought and executed. I particularly liked some of the calm scenes outside of prison.
Overall, this was a good cinematic experience. The story is a great analogy of the American Dream and is interesting to follow. All of the characters have something to say about an aspect of the movie’s main theme, and their relationships feel very truthful. The acting is great, and I enjoyed the editing combined with the music.
