The Iron Claw 2023
A story so depressing they wrote out the fifth brother who also died tragically since that would be I guess redundant? Less sad a movie than the history, though— deliberate or not, the failure to connect the emotional tenor/audience experience to all the loss the film contains is, for me, a shortcoming. But the babes abound: Harris Dickinson and Jeremy Allen White shine. Probably baby oil?

Impossible to overrate. Exquisite, the bees knees, as great as everyone says. Ready for a rewatch near immediately. Oh and go look up the Kate McKinnon SNL classic movie sketch, which also gets 5 stars.

Total stunner of a film, with a hint of understated and quietly grotesque Amelie. Despite or because of its unflinching humanity, the effect is beautiful, even uplifting. God bless a gorgeous diva befriends crotchety old man story— more please!
