I don't think Andrew McCarthy could have done more to justify the label than to make a documentary about how his career was defined by wild early success and celebrity, and 35 years later he's still not over a journalist calling him names. Boohoo you whiny brat.

Brutal and brilliant. Helen McCrory is incendiary, embodying the definition of female rage.

This film has succeeded where all others have failed and made classical music sexy. Despite the period costumes and music, they manage to make Joseph Bologne into an enlightenment era Rockstar. Yet, the plots focus on Joseph's musical career is a Trojan horse, disguising what is actually a powerful story of one man's political radicalization as he realizes respectability politics will never save him, when the world he lives in refuses to recognize the inalienable rights the people. Heart-rending and beautifully executed.
