  Over the past year, I watched two films about lesbian women directed by men: Blue is the Warmest Color, and The Duke of Burgundy. Stacie Passan, the director of Concussion, is a lesbian. It shows. The sex scenes in Blue and Duke were highly choreographed, almost architectural at points. Concussion's make far more sense, and are far sexier, and really brings home some critiques I've seen of both of those films about presenting lesbian sex for the male gaze.
