  Thought it was making an interesting observation about female self-objectification as a form of sexual gratification, but the rest of the movie made me think the director wasn't smart enough to do that, so she probably did it unconsciously.

  Eggers made his own deal with the devil, but instead of giving up his wife to a Romanian count he gave up any directorial originality that characterized the Witch and the Lighthouse to make some cash at the box office. Slop.

  I won't go into the terrible political satire aspect of this movie since the incomparable Armond White already took care of that, but as a movie itself it was just so insecure and by the numbers, it all felt like it was created solely to be a modern critic's darling, and it succeeded at that at least.

  The writing, the characters, the plot, there was nothing to it at all. One of the most dull, pointless things I've been subjected to in a while.
