Very disappointing. It started off interesting and sort of creepy (the culminating point being the killing of the child), but already throughout the first hour there were a few cheap, annoying nods at The Shining which are no more than cheap attempts at fanservice.
Every interesting aspect of the film gets thrown out of the window once they arrive at the Overlook, and from then on it's literally a bunch of Shining scene recreations: here's Johnny, bash your brains in,…
