Truly captivating, re-birth and re-construction in the aftermath of War. A melding of the political transformations of the state in the wake of the Holocaust and a personal tale of trauma and re-configuration.
Petzold’s natural dramaticism, which allows Hoss‘ mannered and perfectly judged performance to take the focus for much of the film, gives way in the films final moments, where the film’s central idea of performance is thrusted into the light with an eruption of song, delivering a incredibly emotional mic drop send-off

Ray & Liz 2018
When people talk about social realism, particularly British social realism, much of it is done through the cinema of Loach and other men of his kitchen sink generation. Bellingham’s first film does have a lot of the brutal realism of Loach but is also a testemant to the changing nature of British cinema’s defining narratives. Namely, it’s a film shaped as much by the visual poetry of Andrea Arnold and Lynne Ramsey as it is by Kes. A stunning debut film and one that will stay with me for some time.

Oh no. It’s obvious Wan has been inspired by the mythology and fantasy of Peter Jackson.
It’s just a shame that it’s the Hobbit series. (Julie Andrews basically plays Smaug) First half is dreadful. Starts with a prolonged origin story that is written and looks like a daytime soap.
