  Peak Michael Bay. I enjoyed the non-stop action pace, the creative drone shots, and the funny banter that somehow fits with the violence in this extreme world. Also unlike Bay's other movies, the emotional side of the story worked for me.

  Bonus - this doesn’t have the sexism or immature humor found in his other movies. Multiple scenes could have gone there but deliberately avoided it.

  Star Trek Into Darkness 2013

  First time I watched this, I hadn't watched any Star Trek besides the 2009 film, so I was going in cold. I enjoyed it - well-made action and a strong emotional core. Later I read online that Star Trek fans hated this. My opinion is still the same.

  My rating here is higher than I anticipated, so this warrants a review. I expected a silly lowbrow comedy that I'd get annoyed at and stop watching after 30 minutes. I got a silly lowbrow comedy that was surprisingly enjoyable. Story arc is cliche but I could never predict what absurd situation they'd come up with for the next scene. I laughed more than I have for some "critically-acclaimed" comedies.
