gorgeous imagery and costumes with Pamela Anderson giving a performance that will leave everybody in awe.
it would've been a top tier movie had the ending amounted to something. instead, i just left feeling sad and empty. the whole movie kept pushing the idea of "if you love it, you'd stop at nothing to do/achieve it" — but in a way where it'll leave you heartbroken in the end.

The highlight of the movie: when Carrie and Hannah kiss and the screen ratio goes from square to widescreen. Oooooof.
Otherwise, despite the fragility of it all, the entire thing felt one-note. I can't tell if the focus was supposed to be grief surrounding a classmate's funeral or discovering one's sexuality in your teen years. I felt a disconnect from the characters since most of them were insufferable and was hoping for much more development throughout.

wanted to love this movie but i don't think i can look past how insufferable Jackie is — there's no proper backstory to her character (there's a brief phone call scene that's never touched upon later) and there's no character development that one can feel satisfied by at the end. like another review mentioned, the film shoots itself in the foot any time there's something of substance. you leave almost frustrated by the lack of resolution from just how messy everything actually is.
aside from that, i appreciate the attempt at a 'be gay, do crime' blockbuster
