  I was delighted and troubled by how modern this seemed! As Christian muttered to me, some of the scenes felt like they could be on HBO’s Girls. The men were such jackasses, but every character was charming. It looked beautiful, loved the production design and the clothes. It was fun to see how French culture in the 60s was different from American hippie culture.

  This is my Best Picture pick. Some of the shots were so beautiful that I wanted to cry. Some of the best visual storytelling I’ve ever seen. The casting was great, every actor fit so perfectly in their role. Happy to see Jane Campion getting praise!

  Six stars. A genius adaptation of Little Women that includes a meta narrative about the history of Little Women adaptations. It was wonderful to watch on Christmas Day with my boyfriend and his sisters—the dialogue and sound mixing so perfectly capture what it feels like to walk into a house full of rambunctious kids. Saoirse Ronan is amazing as Jo, and Laura Dern gives one of the best performances of a complicated mom. I think its a great Christmas movie!
