The Substance 2024
I feel like there's a trauma-to-insight (trauma-to-catharsis?) scale I have to put these movies on. Like Black Swan is obviously high trauma high insight and on theme for doppelganger body dysmorphia. Barbie is low trauma medium insight. Men and Annihilation are high trauma medium insight. This is high trauma and I think insight is pretty low, at last having seen all these other movies. Honestly just watch Snow White with a feminist lens and I think you can get here without wanting to throw up so that's just my personal recommendation for a nice evening
