Reprise 2006
Liked it - some emotionally hitting parts, the directorial work is stellar. I felt the narrative was clunky at parts, many different moving pieces that didn't necessarily fit into a cohesive string, or at least were not brought together strongly enough. It's an obvious antecedent to The Worst Person In The World - so many touch points between the two, stylistically, and in terms of emotional beats. But even with this being Trier's first feature, it's extremely impressive, unique, authentic. I'll be watching the rest of his filmography, starting with this. It'll be cool to see the progression.

high expectations and very big disappointment. writing made me audibly laugh at points. not interesting or meaningful in any sense. tired of crime movies. halfway through I wanted to stop watching but I gave it a chance to get better. 2 1/2 hours is not justified. big waste of time.
