Peter farrelly knows how to make a film. He acknowledges differing points of view, accepts them and brings people together. Although not a classic it is one of the better films in recent years as it delivers a positive message without the ham fisted, preaching of many of the current crop of Hollywood incompetents.
Good with ever threatening to be great. Well worth your two hours. Possibly the third best hellraiser film ever…big drop off after the first two
Blonde perfectly captures the anxiety and fear of a damaged child. However it’s simplistic narrative and black and white characterisation give MM a one dimensional expression that lacks breadth and honesty. Leaving me feeling cheated.
Ultimately “Blonde” only threatens greatness, falling short of capturing the unique shine and tragic malaise of the star that always shines.
However no blame can be assigned to the genius turn of Ana De Armas. Her performance will deservedly see her star rise to new heights.
