  'Wil' greep mijn aandacht van de eerste seconde. Door middel van een prachtige, innovatieve openingsscene word je onmiddellijk voorbereid op het harde verhaal dat komt.

  Tim Mielants versterkt tragedie door slimme, mooi geschoten beelden vol symboliek die getuigen van technische knowhow en talent. Spijtiggenoeg wordt deze film toch wel erg sterk belemmerd door de acteerprestaties. Buiten Stef Aerts die zijn mannetje kan staan stelt iedereen teleur.   The praise for this film is incomprehensible to me. The fact that every review describes it as 'intellectual' is hilarious considering its complete lack of thematic depth and poor script.
  It's not impressive on a technical level. It's filled with plotholes. The first 30 minutes of the film are a drawn-out set-up that achieve the opposite of what they should be used for; getting you attached to the characters.

  I wonder what the boundary is between an auteur making a 'personal' film and what comes across as a self-indulgent piece of art.
  This film is wonderfully directed but it is unfortunately lacking in substance.

  I love Woody Allen's sarcastic dialogue. Isaac is a fun, likable character. However he seems like a character constructed purely for Woody Allen to write witty dialogue through about topics he's interested in like art and media.
