I don't know why this isn't more popular. I think it's a great postmodern story that gets weird and challenges you to sit in a room with a bunch of wild personalities.
I'm sure this was great if you watched it in 2012 and you were familiar with Japanese culture, but living in 2023 has desensitized me to the "horrors" displayed in the movie.
Also shoutout to the Black Lodge sequences that show up for NO reason.
A good movie. It's safe, predictable, and formulaic, but it was still enjoyable. Jim Carrey just about steals the spotlight.
First off, The Riddler kills it.
The movie makes me feel things that I haven't felt in a long time. It asks hard questions and brings you to places that make you uncomfortable vicariously through the characters.
I put it right up there with Being John Malkovich. It's such a spacey concept that tells a beautiful story.
