Who’s the monster?
Lovely exploration of internalised hate. Often when we can’t accept a part of ourself we project that hatred onto others. Finding an external monster in our surroundings helps us deal with a problem that is ultimately internal.
The film deliberately narrows our lens, allowing us to pick out individuals who appear to be responsible. And then broadens the perspective demonstrating the biases that each character holds.
There is no monster - only yourself.
