bad script. the movie starts with an atmosphere of anticipation, but as it progresses, it becomes boring, clichéd, without depth. the motivations of the characters, their contributions to the script are each weak in their own way. the only good thing is the period and concept visuals that successfully reflect the depression. i guess i will never see another great production from egger's like Lighthouse.

this movie. it's like having a simple drink in a place with an impressive view. you don't pay for what you drink, you pay for the view you can experience. what draws you into the movie more than the story is the vibe, the atmosphere, the way it's edited, the fashion. it's like a perspective to be experienced. wong-kar wai cinema is a kind of fashion movement.

if i were to summarize the film, i would say that it is a nihilistic portrayal of the dark sadomasochistic impulses of human beings using a surreal style and poetic language. the film blasphemes sacred values with the subjects it deals with. there are a lot of blood scenes, as if the director identifies darkness and extinction with the color red instead of black. a true art-horror movie with an experimental style.
