Immense results with little budget and subtle technique. Incredible buildup of spooky atmosphere from the ghosts of the past. Gorgeous photography, great score; overall a formal delicacy. Stories like this cannot be thought out, they come from real life or sudden inspiration. Perfect recommendation from Ari Aster at a Q&A after showing the MIDSOMMAR Director's Cut. He's right: one of the greatest, most impactful cut-to-black endings.
