There were 2 reasons why I avoided watching this admittedly well regarded film: Aaron Sorkin's script and Mark Zuckerberg's portrayal.

I normally can't stand Aaron Sorkin's writing. To me his writing, "insists upon itself". I just find that his dialog is not naturalistic. But once I accepted that his screenplays are meant to be theatrical as opposed to natural, I was able to move past it appreciate the beauty of his (a little too crafted) lines of dialog.

In any other filmmaker's hands, this could have easily been a straight forward war film, but Nolan being Nolan, he added a time element by crosscutting between 3 different timelines & it actually works.

His decision to cast actors who were actually the same age as their characters added to the immersiveness of the film. We are so used to youthful twenty-somethings playing teenagers that its kind of jarring to see actual teens on screen, especially in a war movie.

    And…
