This is a weird one for me, because I do find this film to be compelling but so much holds it back as well.

One of my first issues is that no one is given a great deal of depth, The Head Chef is slowly drip fed a backstory, but the other characters are not given that courtesy. As a result, we do not feel sympathy for the danger these guests are put into.

I have a bias for war time movies, so a short summary would be that I liked this film.

The cast is incredible in their roles with each of them bringing a great deal of life to their characters and playing real historical characters with an earnestness that does the figure justice.

This felt like a really long Superbowl commercial.

It's been a few months since I watched this movie in cinemas and I have come to realize that I cannot remember a single plot point or memorable aspect of this film. This film was fun to watch in cinemas at first but becomes hollow with time, even without rewatching it.

Over the Garden Wall is one of my favourite shows. The series follows two deeply likeable characters as they explore a world filled with eclectic and entertaining friends along the way.

Underneath the presented joys of this world and it's characters, there is an underlying sinister tone that makes every step forward feel like a palpable tread into danger for our characters.

I love the atmosphere of this series and the characters come across as fully realised and 3 dimensional despite their 2-dimensional design.
