A classic Western as I remember them. Pretty simplistic characters, in a simple story, developed steadily to the final showdown. Good fun. Horse based stunt action at its heyday. Stereotypes kept very low key.

[But, also, the lack of any decent female characters 🙄]

This movie has really stood the test of time unlike so many others. Created and maintained a great sense of tension, relieved by humour and occasional gore. Even the "hammy" acting fits really well.

And, why can't the current CGI companies match the standard of the special effects in this movie? Still believe the dinosaur are real.

Spielberg was at the top of his game here.

What an awful movie. Two unpleasant lead characters, no story, no fun. As my family will attest, I can normally enjoy a crappy movie if it's got chases, fights, explosions, in it, but even those could not redeem this film. Wish Hugh Jackman had stopped with Logan, this has spoiled his Wolverine legacy for me. Doesn't bode well for the X-Men takeover by Marvel 😭

I think this has Stallone's best acting performance. I believed he was Freddie, not Sly. It's probably because he's on screen with a stella cast in this movie. Have heard this described as an independent movie but that's hard to believe with De Niro, Kietel, etc in the cast.

Only drawback was a paucity of decent female roles.

Sadly it is a Weinstein production.
