  Not gonna pretend this movie is incredibly deep and nuanced, but I do enjoy this movie as a character study. Joaquin Phoenix gives a great performance, and the aesthetic of the film is nice.

  Plus, as for a: comparison to the source material, I actually really love the design of this Joker. There should be more joker designs that have clown makeup beyond a white face with red lips.

  I fully believe that George Miller knows something about the universe that the rest of us don’t. 

  Furiosa is fucking incredible. What Fury Road delivered a simple plot to focus on terrific spectacle in a weird world through nearly-manic editing, its prequel gives us a tragic odyssey told over several acts while greatly expanding upon its setting… and still gives us spectacle of fantastic proportions.

  Anya Taylor-Joy is bewitching as Furiosa. Her rage and sorrow bled through the screen, easily…

  Godzilla Minus One 2023

  Fucking phenomenal. Echoes of the original Godzilla with themes of hope and community that truly shook me to my core. The movie wastes no time telling you exactly what it’s about. And of course, I gotta mention that this incarnation of the kaiju is terrifying from the moment it first appears all the way until the credits roll. I had no idea how much I needed to see this movie at the end of this year.

  Godzilla Minus One may just be my favorite Godzilla film to date.
