It wasn’t for me, at least at this time. I found I liked the second half much better and I can see the charm in many memorable moments and characters. I have heard that it gets better when watching it with more people or with time. Perhaps I shall revisit later.

Steel Magnolias 1989
It didn’t feel like anything too special to me. It was an alright movie about close relationships with friends and family in community, tragedy and grief, and life going on. Even with the themes being evident, it didn’t do much to show rather than tell and leave us with anything purposeful to take away about any of it. The plot didn’t feel like it was carrying much and the characters didn’t contain any greater feeling beyond surface level outside of M’Lynn. Some enjoyable moments, but I’m overall not too impressed.
