  Gross, horrifying and genuinely funny all at once. Franco and Brie bounce off each other with real chemistry, somehow making the film's unhinged body-horror both squirm-inducing and hilarious. Earned scares, twisted humor, this is how you do horror right.

  SUNDANCE 2025 WATCH

  A full-throttle panic attack that refuses to loosen its stranglehold. It’s Uncut Gems by way of A Serious Man, a claustrophobic free fall into the deep end of a mother’s drowning anxiety. The film’s triumph is in how it weaponizes our own sense of dread: we’re left scrambling and drowning alongside the protagonist every moment. It’s an exhausting ride that’s just as existentially nightmarish as it is beautifully crafted; every second is earned. Rose Byrne is mindblowingly good in this, and Conan O'Brien was excellent.
