The Brutalist 2024
Absolutely powerful,moving film that says more about America than weeks of 24 hour news. It can be quietly moving and thunderously jaw dropping with a performance by Adrien Brody that deserves a giant Oscar. And the team of Corbet and Crawley have made something so visually exciting and emotional. My only frustration is with Corbet making it 3 1/2 long so that becomes all anyone talks about. It has nothing to do with it. Go see it.

A Real Pain 2024
A real slog. The longest 90 minute film ever made? There's something endearing about it all, and if you need a further dose of Roman Roy you may enjoy, but the only real drama are two 30 second speeches from Jesse Eisenberg who seems to be going through a much deeper transition than all the accolades going to Culkin. And so many missed opportunities: there's nothing for the rest of the cast to do and Poland could have been shot on a back lot. And where are all those belly laughs? Not sure. Disappointing.
